Their Future

Silas Nassary grew up in Sinai, a village in the Meru district that lacked essential facilities.
When we visited the village together, I immediately recognized how a small tour operator could make a meaningful impact on the community’s development.
With our Luwai Foundation, we not only supported the safari company but also took immediate action by renovating the local primary school and assisting the MDAA Women’s Group, a local full-service catering initiative. In Arusha, the foundation is dedicated to the welfare of Patmos Island School and Orphanage. Even more projects aimed at building stronger, more resilient communities are in the pipeline.
Luwai Tanzania Safaris believes in involving their guests in these efforts. They take inspired visitors to Sinai village, where they can see firsthand the impact of our initiatives, turning travel into a force for good.

Estimated budget: $42,000

In the following phase we foresee the purchase of refurbished laptops for the school.

Our children are growing up in a completely different world from the one we grew up in. Mobile phones, computers, Youtube, Netflix and Snapchat are woven into their daily lives.

It is one thing to know how to interact with these technologies, it is another to understand the logic behind them. When learning to program, children will really understand the digital world they live in. Our reliance on technology will only increase in the future. Today’s students should not only be passively using this technology, but also understanding and mastering it.

Estimated budget: $12,000

In the next phase after completion of the secondary school we focus on the village.

Today there is no water source and no electricity.

We are thinking of a solar panel field with electricity distribution to the various homes.

We plan to build a water basin or well for the local community, and in an even later phase

The last phase is the building of a local dispensary.

These plans are partly realised because of you.

An extra reason to plan your safari with Luwai!

Travelling with us means that you are also helping to improve the lives of local residents. We develop initiatives to provide basic needs such as water and electricity and have developed an investment programme for education and healthcare. Through these efforts, Luwai Tanzania Safaris but also its travellers help build a stronger, more resilient community that can better cope with the future.
