Meet the Team

All staff at Luwai Tanzania Safaris have a deep passion for the African wilderness and a strong commitment to conservation.

We enjoy sharing our knowledge and enthusiasm with our travellers, creating a greater appreciation and understanding of nature.

It is their experience that brings all the puzzle pieces of your safari together. Each of them is an expert who is committed to making your safari the best ever.

For your private safari in Tanzania, we exclusively use properly outfitted and equipped 4WD safari vehicles. Each safari vehicle features a pop-up roof for easy viewing and photographing, huge windows, enough leg room, an HF radio for communication, a set of binoculars, a fridge/cooler for drinks, a first aid kit, and is comfortable enough to drive in the African bush on bumpy roads.

Silas

Silas Nassary
Co-owner and chief operating safari guide

Silas Nassary was born and raised in the valley between Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro.

As a child, he found a dead elephant without tusks while herding cattle. He asked his father who had killed such a beautiful animal!

His father replied, my son, by people like you and me.

That day, Silas decided that his life would be dedicated to conservation and a better understanding of wildlife.

A commitment he is living up to with Luwai Safaris.

Jean-Pierre Deschepper
Co-owner and marketing director

Jean-Pierre Deschepper is passionate about wildlife in Africa.

After many trips through South and West Africa, he fell in love with the vast parks and the people in eastern Tanzania.

Having his own safari company was a long-standing dream that is now coming true.

A dream in which the welfare of the local population is central.

His share of the proceeds from the partnership goes 100% to his Belgian and Tanzanian foundation, the Sinai Luwai Project.
