When the day is hot and the lions seek shade, it is time to look around you and study the busy bird life. See how weavers squabble as they build their intricately woven nests. And how a bird of prey arranges its plumage on a high branch. Tanzania is a popular destination for birdwatchers and nature lovers because of its wide variety of habitats, including forests, grasslands, wetlands and savannahs.
You will be picked up at the international airport (KIA) by our driver with nameplate.
He will take you 60 km (1.20 hrs. drive on tarmac) to Arusha.

The first day of the bird safari starts at 8am. Your guide will take you in a safari jeep to Ngorongoro (2.30 hrs. via tarmac roads)
After checking into the reserve, bird watching begins in this mountainous forest landscape. The day will be spent around forest and woodlands in Ngorongoro.
Here you will find forest birds, woodland birds and with some luck the bird of paradise.
Overnight at a luxury lodge in Karatu.
Today we drive into the crater early in the morning. Here you will find wading birds like storks, herons, egrets, pelicans, ibises, spoonbills, jacana, besides open grassland birds like secretary birds, kori bustard, plovers, raptors, and forest birds.
Besides birds, you will also see a lot of wildlife.
In the evening, you will descend from the crater and head to your lodge in Karatu where you will spend the night.
After breakfast, we leave early in the morning for Lake Manyara, which is about 30 minutes from Karatu.
Around the lake you will see birds of different species.
Flamingos are abundant. These birds feed along the shores of Lake Manyara which covers a big part of the national park.
Other birds are also easily and closely spotted.
Lake Manyara national park is also known for its diverse habitat where different bird species can be seen along with a variety of wildlife species such as elephants, buffalos, waterbucks, zebras, tree climbing lions, warthogs, among others.
In the evening, you will head to Tarangire via the South Gate where you will spend the night at the camp/lodge.
We start early in the morning and follow the Tarangire River. The only national park is home to more than 555 bird species. Bird watching in Tarangire is a dream for every birder and bird lover.
The park is also home to one of Africa’s largest elephant populations, with several herds of up to 300 members per herd. There are also large numbers of impala, eland, buffalo, giraffe, Bohor reedbuck, Coke’s hartebeest, Thompson’s gazelle and the great and lesser kudu. Some black rhinos are also said to be present in this park.
In the afternoon we have lunch at a picnic site and after a long day we return to the camp for dinner and a well-deserved night’s sleep.
The last day of the bird safari and tour in Tanzania’s northern circuit takes you around and past the Silale Swamp in Tarangire National Park. Here you will find swamp birds, birds of paradise and hundreds of other species. You will also see wildlife such as elephants, hyena and tree climbing lions.
After lunch, we drive to the main gate on the other side of the Tarangire River.
We drive back to Arusha where you will spend the night.
You will spend the day in a quiet place in the city. 4 hours before your flight, our driver will take you to the airport.
