Overview

Tarangire National Park is known for its large elephant herds, iconic baobab trees, and diverse wildlife, especially in the dry season. Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offers breathtaking scenery and one of the best places to see the Big Five in a compact area. Ndutu, in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, is famous from December to March for the Great Migration calving season, where predators and wildebeest action are at their peak.

Itinerary Details

Arrival

  • You’ll be collected from the airport.
  • Accommodation before the tour starts can be arranged for an extra cost.

Day 1: Arrival

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by Luwai Tanzania Safaris professional guide. After greeting you and assisting with your luggage, the guide will transfer you in a comfortable safari vehicle to your lodge in Arusha. This will give you time to relax, refresh, and enjoy your overnight stay as you prepare for the exciting safari adventure that begins the following day.

Day 2: Tarangire national park

After breakfast at Arusha Planet Lodge, your safari adventure begins as you set off on a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park. Upon arrival, you will enjoy a full day of game viewing in this beautiful park, famous for its large elephant herds, towering baobab trees, and diverse wildlife gathered around the Tarangire River. Later in the afternoon, you will proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, you will depart for the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s natural wonders. You will descend into the crater floor for an incredible game drive, where you can spot the Big Five along with hippos, flamingos, zebras, and many other species thriving in this unique ecosystem. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, the crater offers some of the best wildlife viewing in Tanzania. Later in the afternoon, you will ascend and proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Ndutu Great Migration

After breakfast, you will drive to the Ndutu area in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, famous for hosting the Great Migration during the calving season (December to March). Here, vast herds of wildebeest and zebras gather on the short-grass plains, attracting predators like lions, cheetahs, and hyenas, making it one of the best places to witness dramatic wildlife action. You will enjoy game drives in this unique region, with the added advantage of off-road viewing, before heading to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Ndutu

After an early breakfast, you will enjoy a half-day game drive in Ndutu, exploring the plains where wildebeest, zebras, and predators are often seen in abundance, especially during the calving season. Around midday, you will return to the lodge for lunch (or enjoy a packed lunch, depending on your schedule), then prepare for your departure transfer to the airport for your onward flight.

End of tour
